Cute?! Try Spending The Day With Him...

Do any of you have a child that is super cute, but a major pain in the you know what?! I have a dcb that is just adorable, but he is a handful. Every adult that comes to pick up/ visit tells me how sweet he is, and how I must be so happy to have this adorable little dcb. I just smile, clenching my teeth, but little do they know what he!! He raises! Anybody else?

    yes!

NO idea why people equate cute with = easy, lucky, special, well-behaved etc etc

Seems the cuter I think a kid is, the uglier their behavior can be at times.

Not always but enough that I've noticed the odd connection before too.

My own son was a MAJOR handful ... I used to tell him all the time that he is VERY lucky that God made him so cute.

YES! One of my dck's is just so stinkin' handsome. Blonde hair, big round blue eyes - he looks like a freaking cherub.

But don't let that fool you for a moment!::

He's not a terribly behaved boy, but he is really high energy.

        I've noticed the same connection....

When someone tells me how CUTE my daughter is or how CUTE one of my youngest preschoolers are I say, "Cute and a handful!!" They usually laugh and say, "I NOTICED!!!!"

I have one who is just like that. Today she wasn't here and it was so nice. We could play without having her come and destroy everything, I wasn't listening to screechy tantrums every time she is told no or re-directed and we actually got to enjoy some craft time. It has been a glorious day. She is leaving at the end of November and I can't wait. It turns out I really love my job when she isn't here.

I have an absolutely adorable little girl - bouncy curls, big round eyes with long eye lashes, cute chubby cheeks with dimples on each side, and a big bright smile... she is definitely one of my most difficult kids, hands down.

Oh yeah. An adorable little 2 year old boy who could test the patience of Job.

Cute & Cuddly- just like a baby cougar::

My go to response to parents like this: "Don't let the smooth taste fool you".

Funny how they learn to play that cute card early on in life too.

I have a DCG who's been with me since January. 16 months, very cute- but just started giving the pouting mouth/crying when given a direction. Started with every time I say "clean up"... waterworks and bawling, as she stands up to put it away. Now it's any direction I give. WAS cute the first few times, now... not so much. Mom says, "yeah, I guess we need to work on that" with a laugh. Pretty sure her parents, older 6 year old sister, and grandma do everything for her at home

Also reminds me of a 2nd grade I once had. Whenever I'd tell her to do something or say anything negative (such as "no" or a direction she didn't quite like) she'd literally bat her eyes at me and smile with her head tilted sideways. Was always preening and acting like a royal princess. When I had the first parent-teach conference and mentioned her attitude (she would not do her work or follow directions, and would give me that act) her parents actually told me, "yeah, I guess we should probably start telling her no at home." Yep, pretty sure by 8 years old you're in deep at home now! Older parents with a couple of other grown kids, I have a feeling that girl is probably a little, spoiled you-know-what by now!

Oh yes! One of my kids in my class (I work at a center) isn't naughty per say, but he is very high energy, all the kids will follow what he does, and he doesn't follow directions very well until I start to stand up (story time and he wants to wander away and I say, come back to the carpet. He generally won't unless I start to stand up). BUT he is a very cute kid

Yes! I had one that was just cute as a button but sassy and misbehaved constantly! She thought saying I'm sorry meant she didn't have to do her time out and she would do time out, then come out and do the exact same thing again! She actually told me one time that pa-paw said to tell me that I should let her do anything she wanted because she was so darned cute! UGH! I am extremely old fashioned and sassy, smart mouthed, bullying, etc is NOT cute in my book!
