DCG Girl Sings Instead of Talks

Everything is a song! She's almost 3. She sings everything and ends it with an 'ah' sound. For example instead of saying 'is it raining?'she says 'iiiiissss ittt raaaaaiiiinning-ah?' Even 'hello' sounds like 'helloooooooooo-ah'. How do I make it stop? She is capable of using big girl words. Mom just had a baby and I think dcg is mimicking how they talk to the baby.

I had to giggle. I am SURE that is very nerve grating to hear all day long but from the outside looking in it sure is funny.

I would say the same thing I say when they are using their whining voices. Ya know, the kind they use when they say, "Ms. So-and-sooooooo, theeeeeey're loooooooking at meeeeeeeee."

    "Big girl/big boy voice, please."

We do lessons often about what a whining voice sounds like and what a big girl/big boy voice sounds like. At this point, all I have to say is, "whining." and they know what they're doing, stop it, and use their other voice.

"I'm sorry, I can't understand you. Can you say it in a regular voice?" "I'm sorry, my ears don't hear singing, they only hear big girl voices." Rinse and repeat.

        Works great for whining too.
