    Bagging Diapers

Ah the down and dirty fun stuff of caring for wee little ones.
I wrap a diaper in a plastic grocery bag, twist it, wrap it back over itself and twist it again, then throw it in the trash. But with 4 little ones in diapers I go through A LOT of plastic bags. I only bag the poopy ones but still...I've been asking for donations of plastic grocery bags from dcps; is that cheesy? I just cannot see buying plastic bags to wrap diapers in.
How do you all do it?

I do diaper changes all at once, unless one individual needs it at a particular time.....but when I change them, I put ALL the diapers in one plastic garbage bag, twist, tie and toss.

    No need to wrap individually.

2 out of 4 of my kids in diapers use cloth so their diapers go in wet bags and go home with their family.

Asking for parents to help donate their plastic garbage bags is a good idea if you are needing a good supply. I have also bought a roll of bathroom sized garbage bags and used them too...plus they are usually scented so that's nice.

Rubber gloves! Been using them for about 5yrs now, and I cannot imagine changing a poopy diaper without them.....that barrier is nice.
When I'm done, I hold the diaper in my hand, and pull the rubber glove inside out around the diaper from one hand, and then the other, completely enclosing it. It helps keep the smell contained too!

I have one parent who keeps me supplied in all the plastic bags I can use. She saves everything for me (and I do, too): shopping bags, chip bags, the plastic wrappers clothes are shipped in, etc, etc, etc. I think it's great to ask parents to save "junk" for you to reuse. :-)

I do same and also change diapers of all children at the same time and put all of them into the same plastic bag.

I have a diaper genie. And, I have found that I can MacGyver it to use plastic grocery bags instead of the expensive refills.

DH is home today and he just asked me in amazement "how many diapers do you change a day?". He couldn't believe the amount of poop I deal with every day.

I do what NothingWithoutJoy does. I save EVERY SINGLE BAG...food packaging bags (like chip or cookie or bread), used sandwich baggies, shipping bags, tp or paper towel packages (open carefully), anything even remotely bag-like, and my favorites-the newspaper bags. I use them all to wrap up a poopy diaper.

Then, I use one of the bigger bags to put them all in at each changing time and put it out after.

I also ask my DCFs to bring me their unwanted newspaper or grocery bags, but other than one family that aged out 2 years ago they never do.

My DH totally makes fun of my bag hoarding.::

When supplies have run dangerously low, I've wondered if I could help myself to the bag recycling bins at Wal-Mart and other stores. Would that be kosher or no?

I MAY have done that very thing last weekend and I MAY have wound up for 1 useless bag filled with shredded bags (?!?) and 1 useless bag filled with cigar smoke yellowed plastic bags (?!?). Ugh. Maybe God didn't want me to do that. ::

My sister, that always says she's broke, keeps me supplied in plastic bags. Just when I'm getting low she seems to show up with the next month or two supply. I hardly ever shop and when I do I use reusable ones so I'm glad she's out spending money. ::

That's my problem, too. I'm not a shopper, and my grocery store gives me 5 cents for every reusable bag I use instead of their plastic ones.

My MIL does save all their newspaper bags for me though, and some store ones. I am quite proud of my newspaper bag stockpile and will not share them with anyone. Hence the husband teasing.

I buy "poop bags" at the dollar store. They're $1 for 75 bags. I bag individual poopy diapers and then put them in my Munchkin diaper pail-works great. I get them in either the baby section (scented bags) or the pet section.
