I have this child- fine when I am right there, screams hysterically the second I am out of sight. There's not much you can do if dcm isn't helping. With mine, I just make sure he knows I'm there when he's playing (a hand on his back, or he sits in my lap until he builds up courage and crawls away. He screams when I walk away, and there's not much I can do. Mine is only 1 day/week. If I had to deal with it 5 days, I would term.

I have a 6 month old with the same issue. Dcm holds her non stop so when I have her she screams unless I am holding her. She will scream even if I am sitting right in front of her. I talked with dcm and gave her a list of all the things I will try to remedy and I asked her to do the same. The next day she told me that a 20 minute drive turned into an hour drive bc she had to pull over twice bc baby was screaming. She said that the baby just needed some hug time and that is all right with her. So she sat on the side of the road hugging her baby so it wouldn't scream.
Baby is not improving and I don't expect her to if this is what I am dealing with. I advice you to be open with the mom and explain what is going on and give her a plan for you both to follow. Give it a few weeks and if there is no improvement term.
Some things I am trying to do are to continue to talk with the baby as I walk away so she knows I am near. Get baby to play more with toys verses being fixated on the adult in the room. Let her cry it out for a bit and when the crying stops...engage and applaud. Hope it gets better. Good luck!

I do an assessment dry, fed, not injured. Everything is alright I carry on about my day. I remind the child to go play. When I am able to hold or sit on the floor to play I do. When I have to go to the restroom or make meals, DCK has to adapt and learn to my being out of their sight.

I give it 30 days. If I don’t see an improvement I will term.

I have a new DCB, 6 months old. Same situation, it’s his second week and I see he is adapting. First couple of hours it’s rough, but after he is cooing and playing not being held or I am out of the room.

1 day a week makes it hard. I used to "practice" turning my back and taking a few steps then stopping and hanging out there, then walking somewhere else in the room, etc, so the child can get used to me walking around. Hopefully he'll get used to it and stop freaking out for you.
