I would not accept. My regs say any "unexplained rash".....

That is unexplained. The dr doesn't know what it is or if it is contagious, so no, I would not accept the note

It doesn't "appear" to be contagious, until down the road when others catch it, then it's "oh, I guess it was contagious"

Could it be a rash from a virus? I would need to know more information. Sounds suspicious.

I agree, I would want more info. I wouldn't accept it unless it said "not contagious".

          I did once and I won't again.
"Doesn't appear" and "is not" are different... I accepted a child once with a rash that the doctors couldn't tell what it was, but said it "wasn't" contagious because neither parent had gotten it. Yeah well, let me tell you a week later 2 other kids come down with rashes too and guess what, the kids got them, I didn't. The whole "it isn't contagious because we don't have it" excuse will not work on me again.
But regardless, it depends on if you feel comfortable or not. If you're worried or nervous about it, go for better safe then sorry!

Nope. I require a diagnosis. How can they confirm a rash of unknown origin is not contagious?

I don't allow "is or is not contagious" from doctors.

I only allow a DIAGNOSIS. If the dr doesn't HAVE a diagnosis, then the child isn't allow until ALL excludable symptoms are gone for 24 hours if held home and 48 hours if I sent them home.

The dr form i send with parents makes this easy. On it are symptoms I PERSONALLY see (not mom or dad)... and a spot for a DIAGNOSIS and TREATMENT plan.

From that, I PERSONALLY make a determination whether or not I will allow them into care.

So you send your own form? Not a bad idea.

Yes, I give parents several copies of my MD form. If I send a child home, they get one filled out from ME. On it I list the symptoms I've seen and/or sent home for. The bottom part, the dr (or NP) not the nurse or the parent , fills out. On it includes the actual DIAGNOSIS and then under that the prescribed TREATMENT.

All asthmatics have to have an asthmatic action plan just like the schools require.

All children with ANY chronic illness like reflux etc also have to have an action form.

if they take them to the dr say on the weekend, etc.. THEY can fill out the symptoms and then the dr fills out from there.

The form REALLY cuts down on me asking for a dr visit and the parents telling the dr "nothing is wrong but the daycare made me bring him" and then the dr saying "nothing is wrong" when actually there are symptoms the parents are lying about.

Depends. Is this child prone to allergies? I and my dd's are prone to unexplained rashes quite frequently. Our dermatologist says that skin rashes are one of the ways our bodies exhibit the allergies. They can look like many different things, some itch and some don't, they can appear anywhere and for no apparent reason. Some respond to creams/meds and some don't.
If I went to the dr every time one of us had a rash we'd be in there every week sometimes!

This is true, in fact I currently have an allergy related rash on my chest and neck, that must be from a dck bringing his blanky and pillow from home today, he sleeps with his dog. I get this rash from dogs and cats in addition to itchy eyes. I also would not go to the dr every time I have this rash, but I don't need to, I know what it is from.

I guess what I'm saying is mine and yours would be an EXPLAINED rash. We were DIAGNOSED with allergies and know that this is a reaction.

Op's dck has not been diagnosed and therefore it is unexplained.

If this dck does in fact have allergies it would need to be stated on his medical form, along with a statement that itchy rashes appear as a reaction
