I clean once a week, with the clorox anywhere spray. I dump it in the bathtub and spray it all down. If a certain toy is in ones mouth excessively then I will spray it down at the end of the day.

I pretty much do the same exact thing. I also use the steam mop on the play mats every week. Those are magnets to teething kids.

I don't? If I notice that it's visibly dirty, I'll clean it, of course, but other than that...I really don't...and when I do clean them it's usually with soap and water.
As the kids drool on, mouth, sneeze/cough on, wipe noses with toys, I will put them up (yes, it adds up! And the kids even bring me toys saying "X coughed on this" :: ). Over the weekend, I dump them all in the sink and wash with soap and water. The surfaces (shelves, tables, cubbies, etc) I use soft scrub with bleach (gel cleaner) on every morning (and wipe over it with wet washcloth). The smell wakes me up and gets me pumped for the day.

ditto. I do spend alot of time spraying odo-ban and Lysol or some other sanitizing spray but I don't actually wash my toys until I see it becoming dirty. I find myself having to take the Mr Clean Magic Eraser to alot of the Little Tike plastic toys pretty frequently.
Ok so does anyone use anything NOT lysol, bleach etc? I can't stand all those chemicals and would rather use something else. Probably vinegar and baking soda.
How often do you clean your toys; and when? And with what?
Every day. Sometimes 4-5 times/day. Soap and water. Then with a bleach/water solution. Mouthed toys are put into a special bin to clean at Lunch and at Closing. Other toys are cleaned and/or bleached at transitions (usually every two hours). I run them through the dishwasher on santitize as well at times.
I have definitely cleaned toys in the dishwasher! Otherwise I use plain old Shaklee Basic H solution (all natural/organic/chemical free) mixed to the "all purpose cleaner." It works great. I purchased a small bottle for about $10 and you use 1/4 tsp. then add water to make the mix. My one bottle has lasted me over 2 years and it's not even half gone. First I used it in my home. Now I use it in my daycare. Even my licensor commented on it when she came through-she said a huge amount of providers use it and even she switched to it for her home. Order it online from shaklee.com (and NO, I don't sell it, I just like it a lot!) It also tells you how to mix it to make window/mirror cleaner or a degreaser. You can buy spray bottles (from them with the mixture ratio on the bottle or at a regular store) and keep one of each around, which is what I do. It's pretty much the only cleaner I use for my whole house-all one little bottle. Easy!

Try the Odoban. It smells awesome and kills just as many germs and bacteria as Lysol. You can buy it in gallon size jugs of concentrate from Home Depot and you just mix a little with water and the gallon lasts FOREVER! It says it has a eucalyptus scent. I love it! I spray it in the basement in the spring time and it totally eliminates any musty odors! I've also used it on our houseboat and it keeps mold away also. Here is the link;
Eliminate odors, freshen and disinfect with OdoBan cleaning products. Made in USA since 1980. Remove tough odors, like pet odors, laundry odors and smoke odors. Use OdoBan for home, school, car or office.
I run the baby toys thru the dishwasher every night. I spray surfaces with my Thieves spray each evening. The big kids toys get washed down every weekend. In between I spray down with Thieves which is a non-toxic alternative to lysol.
Vinegar and water, pretty much a 1:1 ratio, and I add either lavender, sweet orange or tea tree essential oil so it's not so vinegary smelling. I use this on everything, even my tile and hardwood floors. I will run things through the dishwasher if I can. Mouthed toys that can be washed get sprayed with the above solution then soaked in hot water until I get to rinsing them later in the day. Otherwise it's spot cleaning as necessary.
I was buying this stuff called Miraclean from someone on Hyena Cart that I absolutely love too (it works awesome on carpets and my microfiber couch!), but it got too expensive as my one bottle for all things cleaner. I have one packet left that I'm saving for cleaning the couch and carpet on the 23rd before the family comes over for Christmas Eve.
I put a lot of the mouthed toys in a bin as the day goes. Eventually I was the ones I can in the dishwasher and the ones that would hold water or get ruined I spray down really well and shake the excess and let air dry.
Soft toys and sheet on the mattress in our reading area get washed as soiled or maybe once a month.
Once a week at least, at naptime or after the last kid leaves, I try to spray down the whole playroom with spray, shelves with the toys still on them, play kitchen set, doorknobs, gate latch, my phone, mirrors, windows, I try to wiggle all the toys around to hit most sides of most toys.
The spray I use is homemade, I haven't had too many illnesses, just a couple colds that ran through all the kids. So a pretty good health track record makes me believe the recipe does it's job well. Here it is...
Sanitizing Spray
Keeps Indefinitely
For: General sanitizing. Toys, counters, cutting boards, etc. NOT for surfaces that have contacted raw meat.
Directions: Swirl, not shake. Spray surface and wipe or spray and let dry.
1/2 C. Vodka
1 C. 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
2 C. Water
10 drops grapefruit seed extract
20 drops Lavender Essen. Oil
10 drops Lemon Essen. Oil
(1 Quart/30 oz.)
I make a 30 oz. bottle about every two weeks. This gets sprayed on the counters and tables after every meal after I wash them with soap and water too. Try to keep it out of the sunlight, as the sun degrades hydrogen peroxide. The alcohol evaporates, so no worries of ingestion. It smells great too!

Got my flame suit on too! I spray with lysol each Friday at closing. Clean if necessary. If we have a bug going around, I'll spray more than once a week. Getting some germs is how they build up ammunities. JMHO
