    My Own Kid Just Vomited

Newbie here. My own kid just vomited. I've moved him to a separate area. I have two other kids here. If it were any of them I would call their parents to come get them. I don't have that choice for myself. What do you guys do in this situation?

What age? If old enough to be separated & pile into a bucket I'd make him comfy someplace separate, give him a bucket & put on TV. If not old enough I'd see if my mom would take him. If neither works & he doesn't puke again I'd figure it was a fluke, but if he does & you can't separate him or don't have anyone to help out I'd call the parents.

I keep my kids separated when they are sick. Usually in the den(daycare really doesn't use that room) and we stay clear. If it becomes an issue I call for pick up. I do let parents know what is going on. More often then not they all stay.

I would call the DCPs and let them know your child is ill. Depending on the severity of his vomiting, you can choose to continue to care for the children for the rest of the day by isolating your own DS as much as possible and close for tomorrow or ask that they come and pick up their children within the hour in order for you to be able to properly care for your son.

        They will understand.

depending on your child's age i would call for pick up of the daycare kids. i do this job for a paycheck, and to provide a safe place for others of course but first and foremost i do it so i can be here for my children. if my child is sick i want to take care of them and be at their beck and call. they are only little once and the time goes fast. there is also the transfer of germs to consider. even if you separate your child i assume your not going to just leave him/her there without checking periodically and if you have to clean up vomit it's hard not to spread at least some of those germs even with diligent hand-washing. (sorry i cant use caps on my ipad)

same here. our family room is off limits to daycare kids so I just set them up on the couch.

Ds is 2 1/2 he's asleep on the couch in the living room. Called the other parents none of them seem concerned. Until their own kid gets it I'm sure don't have grandparents to help. Guess we'll see how it goes. Thanks for the feedback

I notify the parents and leave it up to them, unless my child is violently ill and needs me complete attention. If I continue care, I'm always sure to tell parents, "I'm happy to continue care today, but it's at your own risk! Exclusion policies will be enforced if your own child becomes ill".

I had a horrifying stomach flu earlier this year and closed for one day. I reopened the next day with the above disclaimer that I couldn't guarantee that I was no longer contagious, but felt much better. By 2pm, the only dcg to attend that day started puking everywhere. I was like, told you so.... Everyone else stayed home.
