    Tree cookies

One of my dcds brought me 16 wonderful huge amazing tree cookies!! Do you realize how much those things go for if you buy them someplace????? I am so happy! Anyways, they're rough cut and I need to sand/finish them so they'll keep. Any suggestions? Will preserving them help, even if they're cracked a little bit?

Are they fresh cut? If so let them dry a bit in somewhere dry inside. With the surface area, they dry pretty quickly. A week or so per inch thick will make a huge difference. Just because of the wood's grain structure some are going to crack. If you want to seal after sanding I would use vet grade mineral oil or cutting board oil (same thing just VGMO from a farm store is cheaper). Non toxic, doesn't change color too much, and only has to be touched up a couple times a year.

Awesome! I am so jealous. I want to get some for my side yard. Do you have a plan for them yet?

No advice; I even had to look up what "tree cookies" are! Now that I know, I'm a little jealous. Pinterest has lots of great ideas for putting them to use and now I want some, too! :-)

          Thanks Dave!
They're pretty fresh but we've been using them outside already. Couldn't wait The kids have been making paths all over the backyard, through our sunflowers, they're having a ball with them. Yesterday, we were stacking them up and they were jumping off. Not all 16 of them. haha Dcd's little girl is a bit behind physically and the PT recommended practicing jumping off things with 2 feet instead of doing the step down thing. So she was having fun jumping off a stack of 7 high and she was pretty darn proud of herself.
