    Pooping in Sleep

Ihave a dcb who is 2.5...super smart little guy but we are seeing some HUGE regression in him and I think its becuase DCP are trying to potty train too soon. It's not going good at all. DCD gives into DCB about potty accidents and I have to remind him daily to stop doing that to DCB.

Well every day this week DCB is pooping in his sleep. I will go check on the kids and there will be a horrific smell. ALl of the kids are completely passed out, so I thought well maybe it was bad gas. after nap time I cahnge everyone and sure enough dcb had a massive explosion. Full wash down and clothing change needed. its soft, not runny

Well every day this is now happening every single day this week. yesterday it was so bad that I had to carry DCB out on his sleeping cot paramedic stype to wash everything down. The dcm was out cold, I woke him up to find him covered in poop.

I have never had this happen before. any suggestions as to what I can do?
This is the only poop the chlid is having all day.

    No diet changes, or medications

Until he is completely potty trained, i.e. he is accident free for 2 weeks at day care, he should be in pull ups or diapers. One accident means the 2 weeks restarts. If it is too soon, it is too soon. You don't decide that, parents don't decide that, his body does.

      Exclude.

ANY TIME (I don't care WHY) a child has an explosive BM or a BM that is not contained in a diaper or pull up, they are excluded.

The toilet training process and time of day of these incidences have no bearing on the fact that the poo is not contained.

So I should call the parents to come pick up? Sorry I'm having a super long day..

The child is in a diaper or pull up always.

If his poo is not contained, I would.

There is no evidence to say that he isn't ill/sick.

Does he normally poop in such an explosive manner? If not, then I would consider this out of the norm and since you don't know why, you have to follow your own exclusion policy of "non contained BM's" being cause for exclusion.

This child is just poopie .

He used to have 5-7 poops a day until I took him off of milk even though the parents refused I still did it anyways. Sure enough we are down to one a day but it's always explosive. It always used to be first thing in the morn and now it. Happening in his sleep.

            Sorry I'm on my phone.

So it is always explosive, but it WAS contained in the past? I wonder why the diaper isn't containing it when he is sleeping? I would think it would be better contained since he isn't moving around everywhere.

Blandino and I were talking and we have noticed there is RARELY a child trained before 33 months enrolled in daycare and boys tend to be closer to 3.5/4. So, 2.5 is REALLY early and that is quite ridiculous. I wouldn't even entertain a pull-up!

Maybe try a bigger diaper size? I would not do pullups during nap because they are the worst for containing BM's

I had a child like this - she was not sick but would poop every day during nap in her pull up and would leave a horrific mess and smell. This is what I did:

                    1) Did not allow pull ups during nap. I had DCP's bring diapers in a larger size and I saved them for nap. Pull ups during the day.

                    2) For a couple of days I would check DCG's diaper every 15 minutes or so. I figured out that she was pooping within 15/20 minutes of falling asleep.

                    3) As soon as she pooped I would wake her up, change her then lay her back down for nap. Eventually she just learned to sleep trough the changes.
