    What Just Happened?

Posting from my phone, so there might be typos.

Dcb is 2. He goes to preschool two mornings a week and gets picked up and dropped off by grandparents who are rather clueless. I had fits dealing with them last year and older brother's preschool.

So this morning, we're outside when dcb came back. I made eye contact with grandpa. He saw me in the backyard. And yet. .. he sent dcb my house alone. I have no idea wtf just happened. Grandpa got seriously chewed out once I found dcb. I was standing right by the back gate, and gpa saw me and still went and opened the front fir and put dcb in alone. He was heading to his car when I realized what was going on and went to get dcb. I told gpa that next time they drop off while we're outside that he has to walk dcb over to me in the yard, he can't ever just send him in the house alone. Gpa seemed baffled and said nothing, just left.

I attached a picture of the location. Is it that hard to understand. .. walk the child back to the yard?! It's like 15 feet, if that! The front door is about 15 feet to the left, on the front of the house obviously.

The whole thing just has me angry and confused and really really upset. Maybe I'm overreacting. But I don't think so.

Are you allowed to lock your front door when you are outside?

I wouldn't be too happy either.

Lock the door, speak to the parents. I would require an ACTUAL hand to hand pass off of the kid! INSANITY!

Ugh I hate when dcps or dcgps think they can just drop kid anywhere and run.

Last week a dcm came with her ds to pick up dcg. Dcb is 6 yo and came to our backyard gate while dcm chatted on the cell phone in the car; I have a tall privacy fence so opened the gate to let him in and when he motioned for 3 yo dcg to 'come on' I said 'no, dcm must come get her, I cannot allow her to go with you' So he did go get mom, she stayed on her cell the whole time and we waved to each other as dcg left. I was a little taken back.

Oh and I've also had dcps drop their child off on the sidewalk and then leave, ages 6, 5, and 9; 2 different families. THAT made me none too happy.

Now I'm on the computer and can share a bit more. I saw gpa get out of the car and let DCB out. That's when I initially waved and said hi and I KNOW he saw me. I had to look away and when I looked back, gpa was standing there looking towards the house and I assumed that dcb had wandered the wrong way and gpa was waiting for him to get back. Then gpa walked towards the door and I assumed he was getting dcb. Then I heard the door open and shut and I stood there assuming gpa just put his bag in the door or something...gpa peeked around the corner (for which he had to have been STANDING IN MY FLOWERS) and I waved and said, "Hi! We're back here right now!"....then he disappeared again and I realized I'd better check. I walked to the front of the house (straight shot past my lovely blue car, ) and gpa was heading for his car door and dcb was nowhere in sight. "Where's DCB?" "In the house." and that's kind of when I lost my head. He must have been alone in there for at least a minute. Where are people's senses?!

I raced for the door and found him, then chewed gpa out.

Next time, the door gets locked when we head out back. But I'm still angry even hours later. Wondering if I should text mom and dad about this...but nothing is likely to come of it because they are dad's parents and dad is kind of a jerk. Gee I wonder where he gets it (both dad and his parents have opened my front door and deliberately let my dog out, with nary a word of apology)

What a pain. I hate it when people think they get to make the rules at someone else's house (like mine).
