I'm not retired of even close, but I volunteer at my local library. Gets me out of the house, and it allows me to have my name/face "out" there. I am applying for a paying library gig in the next town over (small city) to do PT. I My intention is to be done with dc in the next four years, so I'm trying to get some established work history outside the dc. But volunteering with any organization you like might open some doors for you and keep you active and busy.

Do you have a hobby that others would be interested in? You could make and sell items, teach classes, go to craft or art shows, and maybe find a local group devoted to your interests.

Most libraries, zoos, and hospitals are always looking for volunteers.

Maybe a pt job at someplace like bath & body works (nothing too serious)
