I Hate, Hate, Hate, Hate, Hate It

when I have to send a child home with a bump or a bruise! Especially when he came in the other day with a nice scrape on his head that he got at home. Well, today he will go home with a bruise on his cheek to match. This is a new child that just started last week. Groan!

I always feel bad too! Thankfully, parents are usually understanding....these things happen on their watch, too.

I do, too, because you just never know with parents. Some are great and realize that kids PLAY and bonk into things. Others want their child to be returned to them in pristine condition as if they have been sitting on a shelf all day and it breaks my heart. I just happily tell them in a bouncy, excited voice that we had SO much fun and they bonked into something (or, whatever did happen).

I always send a quick text with a picture so the parents aren't surprised when they arrive. It seems to soften to blow. No pun intended.

From their first birthday till the second kids are walking drunk on happiness. They walk into everything and fall over everything. I would try and remind parents that this will happen and invest in some really cool band aides!

Me too! But it happens! Some parents can be really tough though.

I have a dcg 2.5 that started in June. The 2nd day she was here she fell into my rose bush Don't ask how she did it, I still don't know! I was within 10 feet of her, next thing I know she's scratched up head to toe from the pickers! Just weird, the bush is in a place away from the play area and surrounded by a small fence, no one has ever gone near it before. Never say never I guess!

I felt like the biggest jerk explaining that one to her dad! He just shook his head and said "yup, that's her!" I felt a little better, but dcg was still covered in scratches!

My dcg fell and was STUCK in my rose vines the beginning of summer. I had to cut her out! LOL She has been here a couple of years and she tells every kid every day not to go near the fence! (vines are along one fence)
