    How Do You Advertise?

I started this thread in the hopes that it might help some of the other members who have said they are having difficulty filling spots...

My primary form of advertising is word of mouth, which doesn't help much unless you're established, I know.

There are also a couple of large companies in my town who have their own database of daycare providers, but you have to either ask to be put on the list, or be put there by someone who has used your services (that's how I got on them).

In the past I have given a gift card to families that refer someone else who enrolled.

I also think it might be an idea to call other, established providers, introduce yourself and your program, and ask them to refer anyone they can't help to you.

I would also talk to the office staff at any nearby grade schools and let them know you provide childcare to younger kids. I have gotten periodic referrals from the staff at the grade school around the corner from me.

I also never hesitate to mention to anyone I meet that I am a daycare provider. I've gotten a lot of calls through the years from friends of friends who just happen to know that I am a provider.

The CCRRN here is also a source of referrals, but unfortunately they are not as active here as they are in other towns.

Right now Ive been using CL. My first client was a child of my husbands coworker so that was word of mouth. The lady right across the street from me runs a home daycare too so she knows she can use me as a referral but so far nada. I also printed up ads and left them at my gym, local grocery and gas station. Some of my towns newspapers too and a local community forum. My current client found me on CL and my new one come the newyear found me on the local forum. Still, even though I seem to advertise my soul out, no one bites as much as you'd hope. There are a lot of SAHM in my area who thought home daycare was a great idea. Too much supply, not enough demand >:O

I plan to just make posters, maybe put up a business card at stores.
