    Not a Good Fit

So today started the first day of my new dcg, almost 5 years old. Dcp's are divorced and each live about 20-25 minutes from me, but in different directions. They were arguing over which school system to send dcg for a Young 5'a program so they ended up sending her to me for a year - basically to put off a fight for another year.

So ... Dcg is super smart and needs to be with peers. I have all two year olds and under. This will not work for her.

I texted both parents and told them what I thought. As it stands there is a court order to send dcg here because dcd knew it wouldn't be a good fit and dcm took him to court over it.

My hubby is related to dcm but they rarely see each other. Still, I don't want to cause waves in the family.

But seriously ... Dcg will suffer if she stays.

    Suggestions?

If there's a court order, it can't keep YOU from terming, right? It would just be to keep the parents from terming, unless it is allowed if both agree to it. If it's not a good fit for you (and for her, in your opinion), then you would be free to term at will. I'd go with your gut and term, so the DCG can have an opportunity to be placed in a better environment that would be suitable for her age and needs.

Well shoot. This is a fine mess. I really hope these parents can work together for the good of dcg.

Agreed. I had a 5yo last year and it was SUCH a headache.

I told both parents dcg is way too smart for my program. I am giving them this week to find a solution. If they don't, I will term and become the black sheep of my DH's side of the family. Oh wait ... I already am. Being second wife (and best, tyvm) is not easy in this Christian Reformed family.

you are doing the right thing. I refuse to take 5 year olds period but especially if you are a 2 and under program right now. That sounds like a nightmare.
