I have a small daycare. My daughter is 23 months. She's starting to not nap. She has always been an awesome sleeper at night (12 hours). So I'm not too concerned. But she talks and sings the entire 2 hour nap. She sleeps in her room in her crib. One other child is in there. What do you do about 2 year old talkers?

I'd do a later bedtime. 13 hours of sleep in a 24 hour period is what an average two year old needs. I know my 24 month old wouldn't nap if he slept 12 hours at night! He sleeps about 10.5 at night and 2 hours of nap per day.
If she's talking and singing but otherwise resting happily, I'd let her! But it's not fair if her noise keeps another child awake.
Can you move the other child?- Flag

Thanks for the reply. The boy who sleeps in there now sleeps thru it. Next week I need to put a child in there that will probably be bothered by it. I need to figure out what to do. At the 2 hour Mark she has been falling asleep. Uuggh!
I put her down at 8:30 p.m. and gets up at 8:15ish a.m. I like sleeping in but next week I start a school hager who will come at 7:15 a.m. I could start getting her up then. She will probably scream because she likes to sleep in.- Flag

My own kids preferred night sleep over naps and dropped naps right around
2 1/2. I did not put other kids in their room, I used the guest room as my dc napping area. This way my kids would play quietly in their room for an hour or so while I had a little break. Then I would bring them into my room while the dck's were still napping. I just found trying to mess with nighttime sleep lead to even LESS sleep, and I wasn't down with that!::

I have dcks nap in my darkened living room. I play lullaby music from spotify on repeat to help with any outside noise and disabled the doorbell for any random visitors. My own daughter has been a non-napper for a while and I send her to her room for quiet play while I get things done. Recently, I've allowed her to have the tablet in her room occasionally to watch a show on Netflix. I get my stuff done and get a short break. If I'd have shortened her night time sleep, I'm not sure she still would have napped.- Flag

Both my boys did that, too. I'd have them play in their room quietly. My oldest would play in there for HOURS uninterrupted with no complaints (he's 24 now, btw). I loved standing on the other side of the door, eavesdropping on his play.- Flag
