....I am making her pay for last week when her child was out sick. How dare I think DC is based on her contract & not attendance.

I reminded her there is a two week cancellation notice. She replied, "I have to now pay you 3 weeks my kid isn't there???"

I had a parent be abso-freakin-lutely stupid with a ring room incident.

I was about to leave, when the infant teacher called me into the room to look at a rash. I looked at it- eyes bulged out and told her its ringworm.

So the director calls the parent. What does parent say??

'Oh yeah! We know that it's ringworm. We took her to the doctor for it.'

Then WHY IS SHE HERE you insane person!?!?! Do you have a brain in between those ears or is it just air?

I was wondering why she was wearing a onsie when she hadnt worn one in a long time. To hide the ringworm on her back.

I never cease to be amazed by what parents "don't know" despite the fact that we go over it all at interview and it's in their handbook and contract. I hope she doesn't give you a lot of grief and just pays the three weeks. SOunds like life will be less stressful without her.

This is the reply from the Chief Nurse Consultant for my state:
"Physician only needs to release and note not contagious. This is what was done. The note shows that the guardian received treatment/prevention instruction. Giving a diagnosis to persons unknown to the physician could be considered by some a HIPAA violation.

The photo shows an area that fits the description of Ringworm. However, lesions may continue to look this way even after treatment has begun for a while. The lesion is not on hands, arms or an area that could be easily touched by someone else; and according to the note is under treatment. The childcare should not exclude."

When I asked how do I legally notify other parents their child(ren) may have been exposed to something contagious if I do not know what the diagnosis is? The state nurse replied.:

"Just post a notice stating that a possible case of ringworm has been identified in a particular classroom. Ringworm is a fungal infection that is spread by direct contact with a lesion. It can be transmitted from person to person and also from pets. Treatment recommendations include the use of over the counter anti fungal creams. It is not necessary for children to be excluded from school. That should do it."

Another parent just terminated this morning. He said he needs to have someone there for him. I mentioned he should have called to let me know he was going to be late. (This is the same parent who was banging on the door yesterday morning before 25 minutes before I opened. His pick up time is 4:30pm. I texted/called him asking where he is. (He never replied, he just had someone pick up DCG at 6:45pm.

I think it would be someone who does whatever he wants and will keep his child as long as he needs them to , In other words "special treatment" .
