avocado makes a great first food! It mashes easily and is bland.

I never did the rice cereal first, either.

I made my own baby food though, so my kids ate whatever I had in the house/what I was cooking with.

Mine and my dcks who are around at that age all started with avacado, then bananacado...
I don't know about zucchini though. Seems, like cucumbers, it would be hard to squash without just becoming juice.

Avocado, yes, it's a superfood. The zucchini would be fine if steamed without seeds and skin.
        I see little people.

I love avocado, and it has always been a first food for kids at my house (because it's always available at my house). The kids love it. We have a lot of zucchini here, too, but not for young infants.

I think it's the new trend w baby food. One of my dcm is very big into the natural healthy baby food books & she was shocked when I suggested peas. She said it wasn't listed anywhere in her book !

Sure, why not? Way better than grains.

There is no one right way to wean a baby to solids.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

All of my dck's in the past 3 years or so have had avocado as a first food. They all love zucchini too. They eat it raw and cooked with no issues. I have one that doesn't like it raw.

My daughter ate avocado first, too. You'd be super grossed out to read that she eats plain organic yogurt mixed with cooked egg yolk now and loves it.

We also never did, and never will do, rice cereal. No thanks.

We eat a ton of avacado, especially when it's on sale for 2 for $1!

I must be weird, avocado and zuchinni sound more delicious to me than peas (not carrots though, I love those) ::

I've always done sweet potatoes and avocados for firsts... peas not so much, but then I'm allergic; since I make my foods from scratch, not happening

Wow! I am really surprised that there are so many avocado lovers out there. Not me, . But you all have opened my eyes.

I had never eaten avocado until about 2 years ago when one of my dc kids mentioned it was one of his favorite foods. I bought some for him and since I'm always trying to get the kids to try new foods, I thought I'd better put my money where my mouth is. I found that I like them very much and now include it in my lunches and snack rotations. Some of the kids still won't eat them but a few enjoy them, too.

Cooked Peas are perfect for the babies to play with (and eat a few) while I'm heating up their lunch
