    White Shorts Really?????

Do some of these parents even consider what is done in a daycare during the day???? White shorts on a 1 year old is not the smartest, I have seen these shorts many times in the past few weeks...and they surely don't go home anywhere near white!! .ugh!!

I don't worry about it…. we just go about our daily activities and if child gets dirty oh well. If the parent was complaining about getting the white shorts dirty then I would say something, otherwise its mom's choice if she wants to be soaking clothes in oxyclean every night, LOL!

They may not care that they get dirty.

My own child is the youngest, by far, in my care (nearly 1). I let her where white to the park and it gets messy but it doesn't matter to me. They are her clothes for her to wear ... and I have a washing machine. ::

I would seriously lean towards the side of assuming Mom DOES NOT care if they get dirty and if she acts upset when white shorts are dirty I would raise my eyebrows and say, "I'm sorry, Susan! I assumed that since you since little Emily in white shorts to daycare you wouldn't mind her playing in them!" and then I would stare. I would say this because it is EXACTLY what I would be thinking in my head and I don't think it's terribly rude but it also gets the point across that we.are.at.daycare. We play.

That reminded me of a story. I had a Mom instruct her part-time daughter to tell me she needed to wear a smock during every possible dirty activity because she sent her in a white t-shirt here. ???????????????? She said oxyclean didn't always get out the stains in her white shirts so to remind me.
I said, "Oh honey, we don't wear a smock during ___! But, you can always change clothes if that shirt gets dirty! " within earshot of Mom. Mom never sent her in a white shirt again.

I also had a mom say they were having family pictures taken after one day and mentioned that it was a brand new white t-shirt the child was wearing. I said, "Oh dear! I am afraid it won't stay that way for long!" I was never truer to my words because that poor child spilled his breakfast on him about 10 minutes later. She said she would just buy a new one. I don't get why you wouldn't just stick a different shirt on them to come here for 9 hours anyways.

Oh well. We DO things here. So, kids get messy. It is what it is!

I don't have any parents that care if their kids get dirty, so I don't really notice the colour of their clothes.

Yesterday, I had one 22 month old come in skin tight yellow jeans. Kid couldn't even bend her legs to sit. They lasted about 5 minutes before I changed her into some leggings, then she got upset at the end of the day when I tried to put them back on her 5 minutes before pickup. My second 22 month old came in a shirt, and a pair of bloomers that are meant for under a dress. Made me LOL, but I'm sure she was super comfy, and I enjoyed getting a nice view of her cute roll-y legs.

I had one show up in white shorts for our trip to the zoo on Friday. My comment to the parent, "You do realize those are going to get dirty, right?" I think some parents think daycare is a fashion statement opportunity.

haha! I just sent my daughter to her babysitter's wearing an all white dress. I made sure to tell my daughter to say to her babysitter that it's OKAY if she gets the dress dirty (my husband is dropping her off). I was worried the babysitter would think I'm insane!

I do sometimes wonder what parents are thinking about their kid's clothes-especially the tight pants-that one drives me nuts! But I never really worry too much about light colored clothes. It'll get dirty, not much to worry about.

I have a mom that thinks it's a fashion show, even fancy shoes. She brings extra shoes and clothes for me to change "if we go outside" or " depending on the weather". I just to myself. She goes outside in what she came in. I'm not going to make fashion decisions for a 2 year old based on the weather. Send her in what you want her to wear all day. I tell her we go outside everyday and this is what she'll wear. She still does it. Oh well, guess she doesn't mind so I won't either

I buy all of my daughter's clothes on craigslist or at consignment sales, so I don't care if they get dirty. She's worn the prettiest party dresses to daycare, but I paid a dollar or two. She loves to wear dresses and I don't care what they look like at the end of the day- she'll probably wear them the next week stains and all.

I used to nanny for twins, complete with laundry duties and everything. Their mom bought their clothes, and she always bought white shirts and undershirts. She bought like twenty long-sleeve and twenty short-sleeve at a time. It was SO easy doing laundry for the boys, their shirts always matched their trousers, sweaters, shoes, whatever, and the boys looked beautiful in white.
Every once in a while, I would take out the great big soup pot in the kitchen and properly boil the shirts, which honestly didn't take long.
I found this much more practical in terms of laundry than when I nannied for the family with a full rainbow if clothes that had to be sorted into darks, whites, lights, reds, cold wash, wool wash, stain-treatment only...
