I'd also start looking for a way to fill up my wait list.... What is the number one reason that people leave daycares in your area? How can you market to that?
they usually leave to go to real preschool..........or I have had a few families move

I think you can let it be a consideration IF you want it to - that is the great thing about being the owner of your own business.

I have set policies and they are for everyone but if an unusual situation comes up where its either lose a great client or bend a rule *I* have the power to decide if I want to bend that rule. Its all up to me, the client is not in charge, but my likelyhood of bending any such rule is probably going to be based on the track record with that client.

And while many business aren't as "emotionally" based there are many instances where they would bend a rule - such as a bank waiving a bounced check fee for your first offense, or a store allowing you to use a coupon beyond the expiration date, etc. etc. They use the "because you are a good customer we'll allow it" line just like we would.

they will be going to their home county for about 2.5 months
That's a long break, what if they are going to try it out/look for jobs with the intention of moving if it works out?

Of the two options I'd be leaning toward B & filling my waitlist in case they don't come back (!) I'd be getting them to sign an update to their contract acknowledging what fees they are liable for.

If you have 2 spots available that you will be getting some sort of payment for can you use this to your advantage and offer mini trial session to get interest? Or resell the spots for casual drop in while Mums do shopping, hopefully those mums will be impressed with what you offer and want a FT spot

I always think you should negotiate high and then work your way lower versus giving the lowest offer first.
I like this idea. I am going to shoot for this. first 4 weeks at 50% at y contract states and then offer the additional 1.5 months at a 25% discount.

          thanks for this idea.

I do have a wait list, but normally those on it don't need care anymore. My wait list has been almost 10months wait as of right now.
