Do you remind parents of payment?

I have a set of DCPs that often (every few weeks) keep DCG home on Fridays. I feel like I'm always reminding them to make their tuition payment. For example, I reminded DCM at 9 am to let me know when she transferred funds and at 4:45, she still hasn't done it. There's been times when they were paying by check that they would drop the check off VERY late at night, I would go to bed at 11, no check, be up at 7/8 am on Saturday and the check would be in the mailbox.

They're leaving soon, so I don't want to start anything but I want my pay! It has always been this way. Technically, they are late because the contract says ithat if your child will be absent on Friday/payday, payment must be made on the last day of attendance. They never seem to know that they are keeping her home until the morning of so they never pay on the last day of attendance. It's just so annoying and I'm sick of having to remind them to pay me.

How do you handle parents like this.

Ugh, I end up putting up a notice directed at the group after having to remind and remind. What a pain! Imagine of they had to remind payroll where they work every week?!

ALL payments are due BY 5PM on or before Fridays.

Payments are accepted during business hours ONLY.

ANY payment made after 5PM will have an automated late fee attached.

NO SERVICES are provided until ALL monies (including late fees) are paid in full.

My late fee doubles the second time they pay late.

The 3rd time they pay late is immediate termination. (at my discretion)

Paying your child care provider late is not an oversight or an issue with time management. It is a DIRECT show of disrespect to the provider by the parent.

aDCProvider ~ My advice to you is write up a statement saying those things ^^^ (or whatever your rules are for payment) and give it to the parents.

Tell them from now on ALL payments WILL be made on time and without reminders or the late fees will be added automatically. Do NOT allow them to pay you unless it is during business hours.

Tell them you WILL term if they pay late x amount of times.

Once a family realizes you aren't messing around about this...they usually shape up. And if they don't, well then you can say goodbye to the stress they cause you because if you follow through and term them, you won't have to deal with the issue any more.

Except for me payments are due by 5pm Thursday and considered past due at 5pm Friday. That gives them a 24hr grace period to get me a check.

Nope. I tell them at the interview and don't bring it up again.
