I went to Seattle last Thursday so didn't do anything about it over the weekend. Dcd showed up this a.m. for drop off. He didn't say a word and I nicely didn't say anything since I had 2 other parents here. I sent another bill home with grandpa who picked up again. I don't see them tomorrow so Tuesday night I'll have to text her "no pay no stay" for Wednesday morning.

I want my money on time.
    Me too!

I am not typing you should do the following. I am just sharing I wouldn’t text one word to them. I’d just let them show up and tell them at the door, child cannot be accepted into care until the full payment with late fees are made in cash.

I would've held my finger up in a "wait" signal, and had them wait until the other parents left- I can't believe they dropped off without paying! (Actually, I would've said something while the other DCPs were there- professionally, of course!)

Yes, I need to quit being so "professional" and just bring this stuff up regardless of who else is here. I am sure if you are behind on your bill at Verizon they don't shush-shush to avoid embarrassing you. If your card gets declined at Wal-Mart they expect you to figure it out. I need to do the same!

Please, please, please... for me... stop intermingling the terms "professional" with being a "doormat" for clients.

They are not the same. Not even close. Pretty close to opposites, actually.

I know the hours and hours of monotone trainings tell us to "provide a service" "be courteous" "be flexible".. blah, blah...

Remember that all that "Courteous" behavior comes at a price. If it is not paid they get "Professional".

              OK?

I have one family like this. ALmost never get payment until I send the "let me know whey you leave the payment so it doesn't sit unattended in the mailbox" message. I know. My fault for putting up with it. BUT, they are only here until the end of August so it will end soon.
