    2nd Floor Regulations

Hi, I want to open a family group day care. I want the day care in the 2nd floor of a house.
1-my question is if I can put a fire staircase through the window from the back room of the house landing to the ground?
2-If you have your daycare mainly in the 2nd floor please tell me about your emergency exits and anything extra you would want to add. I only have 1 exit in the second floor right now.
3-in the 2nd fl there is 2 small rooms in the back, a medium size living room that you first see when you go in and a medium size room right next to the living room that I can take the wall out and have a bigger living room. what would you put in each room. etc circle time, table toys, block center, art center, sleeping area(I need help organizing everything) I hope its not all over the place and that many can understand
    thank you

    Hi
There should be some answers to your questions in your state's licensing rules, or in your state's fire marshal rules for daycare.
Sorry, your search did not find any daycare or childcare listings. Please search again with your zip code instead.

In IL it also depends on how many kids you have, that will dictate some of the fire safety rules.

We have a similar set up in my basement for daycare, and we have one large room for the main space with all the centers/toys and for eating and napping, a small section of that room divided off for infants, and a separate room that the infants nap in. Everyone else naps on cots in the main space.

    HTH!

When I first opened I had my playroom on the second floor . My second exit was a window , no stairs or anything leading out .
I was told that the firemen would be responsible for getting people out the window , though I did purchase an emergency ladder I did not have to .

Just call your licensing agency to find out what they would require .

ITA - each state has it's own set of rules, and each licensor can interpret those rules differently, so the best thing to do is contact your licensor.
