    Would you call me crazy?

So I am trying to think of ways to get my name out there. When I had daycare in Kansas it was so much easier to do because I was in a much bigger city. My schedule is pretty flexible right now because DH is a truck driver. I was wondering if I should advertise a couple of Fridays of overnight care before school starts for a parents night out sort of thing. Never done such a thing before, but in such a small town I am trying to get creative. Thoughts?

I dont think thats crazy at all. Maybe you could do pizza and movie night. Have something to hand the parents when they arrive like a business card or flyer advertising that your opening a daycare.

      Overnight care for what ages??

Personally I wouldn't leave my young children overnight with someone I didn't know. I'd consider leaving my school-agers - are you looking for SA kids?

I do a Parents night out with pizza games and a movie. I allow my currently enrolled kids to attend and bring a friend to try us out. I have gotten 3 kids that way, but that was over a 6 year period. I love doing it, it's a totally different light that I am in. We dont have 1000 transistions and rules to follow like raise your hand before talking and etc. My parents all bring a snack to share with the rest of the kids. We build forts and watch movies....all the things that we can't do during regular preschool time.....

It wouldn't have to be overnight care. I think I could do an option for a night pick up and one for overnight. It would be up to the parents on that of course. And, of course it wouldn't be every weekend, just looking for a way to get started in a cluster of small towns. With DH being gone all the time, I have time on my hands and when DD gets home next week she would love to help me with it.

Hey, everyone has to find their niche and when you're running a business, it helps to find a gap and offer a service to fill that gap to stand out. Of course, you could try it a couple of times and see how it goes...you're in charge so you can always decide not to do it again. If it is financially feasible and you have the time/patience/help then go for it. I've thought of it once or twice here since there are plenty of SA kids on my street that would love to have a fun night (and so would their parents). Plus there are a lot of late night shifts and college students...
