    Local Organizations You Belong To?

I was told today for my QRIS/STARS walk through that I should belong to some local organizations that relate to child care.

I have no idea what types of organizations she is talking about. What things does everyone else here belong to?

I have no idea either. There aren't any child care organizations around here. I will be going, or at least trying to go to a provider meeting once a month, but other than that, that's it. I know you can join miaeyc, but that's not local.

How did your assessment go? Was it long? Was the person nice? Do they tell you right then, or do you have to wait?

I'm a member of NAEYC and we have a very active local affiliate in my area. There are also several family child care support groups in the area.

Call your CCRR - they should know what organizations are in your area.

Do you have an OYC in your area? You don't really join, but you can always call them and talk to an advisor there. Ours has an awesome lending library of activities, books, and resources as well. That's where I found out about the provider support group here. They actually just started it because there aren't any organizations in my area.

Here we have neighborhood groups, county-wide groups, and a state group.
Each has meetings and dues and offer training and/or support.

They are a little confused with me. I guess they haven't had a provider this new try the QRIS/STARS program before. It's causing some questions because they are not sure what to do since in some areas they can't properly grade me because although I have things in place (like assessments in September and November), I can't provide the proof that I did them ... yet.

So this woman came to view the daycare today and then she has to go to Lansing to talk to her higher ups about my case. I should have the official walk through in 4-6 weeks. Maybe shorter, maybe longer. Of course

Yeah, who knows how long that will take!
Sorry, I was a little confused when you posted about it the other day. I thought you meant that a consultant was going to come over to assess what you have done and are submitting.

Congratulations on doing it so early, it's a daunting task getting everything uploaded and approved!
