Sorry I can't search on my cell. What's the earliest you've moved a child from a PNP to a cot or mat, if they are a good sleeper and well-behaved? Thanks!

My youngest were my own 2 at about 16/17 months. However, they had their own rooms that were extremely child-proofed. My daycare kids, I wait as long as humanly possible, especially the last few years. I would say none of my dc kids have been as "mature" as my own kiddos were.

I switch mine once they are walking or at 16 months (state law if they aren't walking is PnP thru 15 months); most of mine start around their first birthday. Of course I also do Montessori style care and all the babes are on mattresses during playtime so they can figure out how to crawl /roll off. By the time they can walk, they already know what the mat is for- Flag

I have the parents sign a form saying what the baby can sleep in/on other than a Pnp at any age under 1yr. Swing/bouncer/mat etc. trust me i know it is not a good idea and can be dangerous. But the babies never leave my side when they are sleeping. If they can't sleep during the kids play or outdoor time then infants don't get much sleep until all are napping here. Sometimes if baby is really tired and can't sleep we will do play doh to give them a chance to sleep. Sorry off topic. Assuming parents consent I will usually start the transition to a mat about 11mos. Because they lose their bottles at 12mos here so then they don't lose it all at once.- Flag

I switch them at 12 months.
Free's up so much needed space and they fall asleep faster. happyface
Moving to an awesome big kid mat is viewed as a reward, here.
Naptime is also supervised time, here. All in one room.- Unless otherwise stated, all my posts are personal opinion and worth what you paid for them.- Flag

Thanks guys! I may be getting a new 3 year old who still sleeps in a crib and I only have 1 PnP. My 14 month old is a great listener and sleeper, so I'm thinking of trying her out on a cot to see how she does (I don't want to buy another PnP and since I don;t know how he'll be yet, I'm thinking keeping it consistent with home and previous daycare would be best for his transition)- Flag

sometimes depends on when they transition to one nap but usually around 2 years old. I've had some do it earlier, especially if they are just starting with me around 18 months old they go straight to the mat so I don't have to transition them twice. With a 3 year old I would absolutely go straight to a mat/cot.- Flag

Mine are usually
Between 18 mos and 2 years.... I have never had a one year old that was mature enough to know they are to stay on the cot and take a nap. They are still like babies and often will still require a short morning nap yet?- Flag
