first off, I am a member, but chose to log out.
The other thread got me thinking about a situation that happened earlier this week.
My asst and I took all of our DCKs to the nearby park. All 14
We all wear T-shirts with our DC name on them when we go out, both kids and staff
While at the park we always get tons of attention with the golden questions like OMG how do you do it, blah blah blah.
Well on this day there is a lady with a quad stroller, a bit older than us.
She is standing on the sidewalk near the play structures watching one baby about 9 months old, no shoes crawl around in the woodchips. I think odd, but whatever that's her child and mind my business.
This woman approaches my asst and asks her where we are from and my asst tells her we are an in home private preschool. The lady reads her shirt and said oh cute name......
The lady asks where we live and some other questions and then proceeds to tell my asst "well I do it all under the table" aka illegally. Not too sure why she would tell my ass that. The woman never came to me and asked me anything even though I was near her for about an hour.
My kids, asst and I are playing. My asst tells me what happend and I told her not to worry about it. BUT THEN
we decide to take a walk to the other end of the park, BTW this is a HUGE park. My kids get into a good game of hide and go seek. As we are playing I see these 3 kids about 3-5 years old pulling on slat of wood from a fence that borders that park, belonging to a residents backyard. I watch them to see what they are doing. They have the bottom part of the wood and are trying to pull it up. I walk closer and approach them. First thing I see is nails sticking out and a very angry dogs teeth. The dog is going crazy.
I ask them what they are doing and they told me they are trying to help that dog free and trying to break the wood off. I stop them and say that is not safe, where are your parents or where is your adult. I could tell they were not siblings. They said we came with Miss Mary and point to the same women still standing on the opposite side of the park that NO WAY IN THE WORLD could she even know what they were doing or see them. they were 100% out of her site and vision.
I tell them that they need to go back to her because I don't want that dog to get out and that I don't want them to get hurt. They listen and leave.
later we encounter more issues with these kids and the woman never watched them at all. I just kept telling them to please leave us alone and go back to their DCP.
My asst wanted to go say something to her, but I said no don't, I don't want any trouble and now that she knows our place I dont' want drama.
I so so so bad want to do something about this. But I am scared. I fear for these kids and don't know what to do because I fear that if I turn her in, that she knows our names and will suspect us and seek revenge. What if those kids did let that dog out and they got bitten or worse one of my kids got bitten, me, my staff, etc....UGH
I am over thinking this? WWYD?
