    In One Hour...

    ...I have an interview.

Gaaaahhhh, how I HATE interviewing. It ****s up so much of my off time, and if I try to keep it to an hour I feel like I am being rude.

It makes me feel nervous and skittery beforehand, too. In the outside working world, you normally only interview a few times in your life. With this, it's at least a couple times a year.

I hate it. Just wanted to whine to my peeps that understand.

I hate interviews too! I have done at least 10 this year already! I was being picky trying to fill my last 2 spots, which has worked out good with keeping my group full of kids that work well together. But it has been torture for me with all the interviews ugh!

I'm feeling your pain. I opened this year so I did initial interviews, and then I lost 3 due to moving (sibling set), and moving (1). So then I had to interview like crazy again.

          How did it go?

I don't know why, but I kind of like doing interviews. Maybe because I haven' t had to do that many?. I used to be the most introverted person, but in the last few years I have started to come out of my shell and I like it! Makes it easier to do things that involve people.

            I like interviewing too.

I do limit the time they take though to no more than an hour. If parents have more questions or either one of us feels as though we didn't cover everything, I will either start an e-mail conversation with them or schedule a second interview.

I don't mind interviews. I am confident enough in my old age that it doesn't bother me any more....but it used to!

I look at it much more as me interviewing THEM...instead of the other way around. Once you get over feeling like the applicant and feel more like the interviewer...it's much easier.

I use language that makes them feel they are applying for a place. One of the best families I have now, sent me an e-mail after I let them know their son had the place. She said "Thank you so much for choosing us...we know you had others that were interested". They pay on time, are polite etc.

Most of the time , problems arise because parents think the provider works for them.

This is true. I haven't run into any parents thinking that way yet (I'm referring to the last sentence). But from seeing stories on here, I feel that I may be ready to tell them how it really is....maybe. I have a harder time confronting parents than anything, but I'm working on that too.
