    Frequency of BM's in 4yo?

Ok, almost 4yo NOT potty trained (or even close) having very frequent BMs. Not small, sometimes on the looser side, but still what I would consider to be normal. 4-6+x/day HERE ALONE. Am I wrong to find this excessive? She said she mentioned it to the pediatrician, and he said it was a sign of a healthy colon.

Even my potty trained 2-4yos go 1-2x/day.

I have a 4 yr old dcg that goes here maybe 1x-2x a week.

I think she may go at home more often but no where near 4-6x a day!

what 4x6x a day.......no way that is way too much

what are they eating? straight fiber??

That sounds like some kind of food intolerance.

I also think that is too much .Especially since they are not small , if they were very small then maybe I would think it is fine .

Same here- I have 4 year olds that hardly ever go- my younger ones go a lot, but that does sound like way too many! Not to hijack your thread, but I had a dcg from infancy to age 3 that went this many times everyday, and I felt it was excessive. Doctor apparently said it was fine, but i always felt the parents were withholding information. After about a year, she was diagnosed with failure to thrive- not surprising- she pooped out everything she ate! Could this be the case with yours?

I agree with everybody else, that's way to often.
I have two that age and they rarely go here.
But then I have a third that has sometimes has soft bowls, sometimes explosive, but still only 1-2x's a day, depending on how much juice or milk she's drinking at home.......
But 4-6x's a day?! How much does she eat?

              That is way too much.

The 3/4/5yks go maybe once a day here, if that.

sounds like they have no ability to conrol their rectal muscle at all?

I would start documenting them for at least two weeks along with food log to see if there is any change.

I have a dcb who is 2 but potty trained and he was having that many a day until I figured out that it was the milk oh and monday too the kids would have explosions due to getting too much junk over the weekend and too much milk sunday night before bed.

Now the child has 1 a day that we have cut out milk and most dairy.

That sounds like way too much to me too. I have some pretty regular kids and even the worst of them only goes twice a day like clockwork. Most go once per day.

That is excessive - especially for that age. If the child were an older infant/young toddler it would be one thing. But typically by 4, my kids are having 1 BM a day here or skipping.
