    Northern Virginia Rates Help!

I am having the worst time getting providers to call back or email back about rates! I got a couple and it ranged from $150 a week for basically babysitting to $260 a week for licensed care. I have several people who want to interview and I need to get the price figured out. One teacher bulked at my proposed $200 a week saying they had care before in manassas for $150. We will be loving in Gainesville in a really nice single family home neighborhood. HELP! My rate here was $150 a week infant down to $115 week pre K. In PA!

I will tell you that if you live inside city limits in many areas of Northern VA, you are required to approved by city and you might be required to be at least registered if not licensed... I know Alexandria, Fairfax and Arlington do it... possibly Mannasas city too.

try and look up the childcare market rate surveys for past couple of years... I know Fairfax has theirs online ( I use to live there, but never did childcare in VA)

Is there a state run site where they list licenced providers along with their contact info and rates . I know have one here in MD. You could use that to find rates .

So we are in Prince William county. I can watch 5 or under unlicensed and only 4 of those can be under two

Rate wise though I'm thrown! I'm leaning towards $200 week for infant-2 and then $180/190 week 3 and up...

I'm in Reston, in Fairfax co. I charge $280/week, and just started quoting $300/week, and am not having any issues getting people to tour. I am licensed for 7, and have full time staff.

Before I had my license, I charged $250/week.

I would assume Fairfax county might be a little higher rates than Prince William Co.

In Kansas, our local resource and referral agency keeps a chart of average rate for each county. Any one can see it - parents and providers.
You might check and see if there is anything similar in your state.
