    Heat Deaths-Awesome Website

Found this awesome website! Has handouts for parents, caregivers, etc.

Going to look at it more during nap.

Another two children were found in a car yesterday while mom went in for a haircut. People took a hammer finally to break glass-NO ONE CALLED THE POLICE!!!!

Children were ok but mom was very non chalant (SP) about the whole thing-

I would be on the phone with the police while I am breaking the window. I'm not going to wait for police to show up because it might be too late.

Omg I just read all those stories. So sad. Especially the one where the daycare providers left the child in the car.

But yet again...people wanting a solution that takes the responsibility away from the parents.....which is where it belongs.

Not car makers installing special monitors that will raise the cost of cars for everybody.

Not daycare providers being mandated to call parents.

PARENTS are forgetting their children. So PARENTS need to get their act together. That might sound cold, but it's the hard, cold facts.

Occasionally a daycare provider has forgotten a child in a car...but for the most part...it's parents.

I say get off the phone while driving. Turn off the radio. Talk to your child instead and focus on what's important.

The upcoming morning meeting isn't important. The sales quota isn't important. Making dinner plans with a friend isn't important. It can all wait. People are too busy trying to multitask while driving. Make a habit of glancing in the back when you park.....not exactly rocket science.

Ok, so maybe a life could be saved by someone calling and checking up on a dcf who hasn't arrived yet. BUT what about the selfish acts of a woman who goes to get her hair done, then when she's found out, she apologizes and says please don't call the police, I made a mistake? There is NO reason for those types of accidents(not an accident really) to happen. That's plain selfishness and stupidity.
When did our children stop being our priorities?
