Currently I am going to school for Elementary Ed. I will be starting my second year soon, and I am trying to decide if I really need to go on to get my bachelor's or if an associates degree is just fine. I dont want to spend the extra money on two more years of school if I dont need to. Originally I was going to become a teacher but I have realized that I want to be able to stay home with my future children and if i were to do my 3rd and 4th years of school it probably wouldnt be much longer after I am out of school before I get married and start having kids. I would like to know if I would be able to be licensed in Minnesota with just my Associates degree in Elementary Ed or if I need more. I have read the requirements to be a caregiver but it isnt very clear to me.

MN requires providers to be 18 years old, have CPR and first aid training to be licensed. No degree is required.
However, with the recent invasion of the QRIS/Parent Aware, a degree IS going to be beneficial in some capacities, although IMHO a BS/ECE is really not necessary
I've been a licensed provider in MN for 20+ yrs so if you would like to PM me for further information/assistance/support, please consider registering for the forum (only registered users can PM) and I will be happy to help in any way I can.- Flag
