A parent brought her 1 yr old in still in his car seat, signed him in and told the teacher the child was ready to eat. After removing the child from his seat, the teacher noticed a small bruise on the child's forehead. No big deal, cause the child is starting to toddle around, but the teacher did point it out to another teacher.
Well that afternoon, the parent came in to pick her kids up and wanted to know what had happened to the child's forehead. The teacher told mom that the place was on the child when it was left that morning, but the mom was insisting (in a smart and rude way) that she would have known if "her baby had a place on his head when she left him". This parent has two older kids that also attend and both siblings are rough as can be. I'm thinking maybe it happened on the way to daycare. Maybe even being hit by his siblings.
Usually, if we notice any bruises or places on a child, we call it to the parent's attention, but this was not noticed until after mom left.
I'm thinking of making a form for the staff to complete and parents will have to sign before leaving their child at daycare. Does anyone know of a simple form that I can get some ideas from?
