I Decided to Drop....

...our 2nd shift program. It's overwhelming us. We cannot keep stable employees & now I never see the hubby. Currently I do days & he is doing nights. How do I tell the parents & how much notice do I give them?

Termination is two weeks. I'm not sure how to word it without sounding like I don't care. I have a few that are the reason we've hung in there this long. I've had one since he was 4 months old.

I would keep the notice short and sweet, and say something to the families.

This sounds great. The hubby has casually encouraged a few parents to go to day shift.

How many kiddos are there in the evening program?

Would you consider taking the one child who's been there so long home with you, and caring for him there?

I don't know what the regs are in your state, but if you don't need a license for one child and are comfortable transporting, you could take him with you after the daycare closes and they can pick him up at your house.

Just throwing that out there as an idea. Maybe only M-TH (they can maybe find someone else to pick up on Fridays) so that you're actually done on Fridays at closing.

I do not transport because that is another licensing headache. My home is not child proof like my DC & my horses run around the yard like my dog. (Attached is a pic from my front deck yesterday.)

I really do not want to *work* from 0530-2330. I would have no down time.
