Thanks for sharing.
I'm wondering if I could pass this out to parents of the unruly- Flag

Love it! It is true that we don't have the village anymore. I would love to have the support of the community, and to be a part of a community the way it was when my mom was growing up, and even when I was growing up (but it was changing some by then).- Flag

Amazing read! I especially loved #3, the village. Moms do need to hear: "Hey, good work -- I know setting limits is hard." I am making a decision right now to high-five the next mom I see struggling through a grocery store with a screaming child!- Flag

sigh- cracks me up that every generation thinks the way they raised their kids is the right and best way. Bet in your time the music was better than today's too?
Your mother and grandmother probably had plenty of criticism for you, and in 30 or 40 years our kids will be saying the same thing, and then their kids, and so on.- Flag

I think we are saying that as the world becomes smaller and more connected, people are becoming less connected as a community.- Flag

Socializing used to mean going to other people's houses.
(an opportunity for children to practice manners and social etiquette)
Now it means logging on to Facebook.- Flag
