After the whole Dr. Quack debacle about sending sick children to daycare it got me thinking how wonderful it is that we have forums like this to band together. Seeing all of the comments from fellow providers warmed my heart and was probably a surprise for the dear doctor. This used to be such an alienating profession!
Now, through these groups, we're able to get our opinion out there and affect change in this profession and that's amazing. With the help of the people here and a local group I admin we were able to actually change a state regulation for the better. Ten years ago we wouldn't have had a chance.
It just hit me that it's groups like this that will help shape family child care for the future. With the expanding regs that we are required to meet and the sense a lot of veteran providers get that states are trying to do away with home daycare I think these forums will prove to be even more valuable than we already know they are.
