Help Me Do This Full Time!!

So this week DH did daycare while I was a unit leader for a nearby Girl Scout Day Camp

This was seriously one of the best and most rewarding experiences I have had in a long, LONG time. It was physically demanding (tons of walking! Yay!) and mentally demanding (in a GOOD way). I had 20 girls who are going into 3rd grade (well me and my two co-leaders, and some high school aged helpers).

I wanna do this always....do you know if there's anything that exists that's similar...outdoors, working with kids...seriously if I could do daycamp full time and get paid for it I would in a hot second.

Our local YMCA has a summer camp for school aged kids. Runs M-F from 6-6 and each grade level has it's own class. There are different themes each week and the kids are on the go constantly the whole summer!

Why not see if you have something similar in your area. Our's hires new staff each year because it's seasonal but a lot of people reapply each summer.

Of course, it doesn't work during the school year because the older kids are in school but some of the staff just transfer to working in the daycare center.

If your area doesn't have anything similar, have you considered running your own summer camp?

You could take these next few months and really have a great business plan in place for next summer.

I volunteer some Saturdays at camp good days (for special needs kids).

They pay their staff well and operate during school breaks.

I would TOTALLY hire an assistant and work there if it was feasible (it's a DRIVE for me though)

What about as a tour guide somewhere? A friend of mine does tours at a Budwieser (spell?) place with the Clydesdales and all that. There is also people that work for Parks and Rec in my area and do guides of local trails and talk about wildlife and stuff with kids. Its called Nature Detectives

I'm actually looking into YMCA positions right now.

I would love to do a summer camp type thing but it would be best with transportation options and I have none right now...nor for the foreseeable future. Though I do wonder if there's a market for a tiny group (Like 3 preschoolers) with tons of field trips... and if I could charge a "living wage" for it. i.e. substantially more than I charge now...

My DH works for a local park, similar to a state park and they have an education coordinator, a person who plans classes, field trips and summer camps for the year
