    When They Wake Up Screaming

9 months old. Screams the second she wakes up, VERY loudly. It's waking everyone else up.

I've moved her to her own room, but it's not perfect because she's loud enough to wake the kids in the nap room. I'm playing quiet music as a sort of white noise.

What would you do to teach her not to scream when she wakes up? I get that it's going to take awhile... but I want to at least be making progress.

I would put a box fax on high in the nap room, for starters. I then would go into the ninth months old room, lay her back down, and tell her to go back to be quiet and go back to sleep. I would not pick her up as this would be reinforcing the screaming behavior. Hope that helps.

I agree with not picking her up. Screaming when they wake tells me they're still sleepy so I go in, do a quick diaper check (sometimes I do change it just because which does entail picking them up), and lay them back down.

I have one that does that and he is 3.

I have him sleep separate as well, play zen music and use a box fan to drown the screaming out.

the child sleeps maybe 30 min and then wakes screaming every day. Since he is 3 I don't say anything to him. He naps in the front roonm hall area.

ONce he stops screaming I will go and give him a book to look at until nap time is over.

In your case, I would do as the others said, lay the child back down and walk back out.

How long are they sleeping for?
