Duct Tape to Nap Mats - Vent

Sorry if this has been posted before, I did a quick search and didn't see anything...

I saw this post and wondered if anyone else had seen it either. I'm sure this is something that *jokingly* has run through providers minds... but would NEVER in their right minds ever do. What is wrong with people?

This is why parents lose so much trust in anyone watching their kids. Stories like this. Most providers are not like this!! Where are the stories of great providers that take excellent care of kids, learning ABC's, singing songs, and have a ton of fun while learning social skills? Why do we all focus on the crack pot that duct tapes a poor child to his nap mat. I hate the news.

I saw that and was horrified. Abuse always makes me sad.

"Decker apologized and said it was something that probably shouldn't have been done."
      Ya think?? Good grief!

The stuff you hear of or see now days amazes me....my PE come in a while back and said "you know you can't turn your pnp upside down to keep a child, don't you?" I started laughing because I thought she was kidding, but NO, some provider had actually done this????? I know we all joke/jive bout things, but to actually do something like that is a warped mind!

What I don't like is when someone posts it on social media with a comment, "This is why I don't take my kids to daycare!"

          REALLY???

I see the article is from the Huffington Post, which I read every morning over coffee. I try to avoid the crime section because 75 percent of it is either crimes against children or crimes committed by children.
I totally agree with you! The social media comments "this is why I don't take my kids to daycare" is INFURIATING to me. I am always tempted to go back to the.Huff Post and post links to these horrible abuse stories that are committed by PARENTS and baby daddies and mommy boyfriends and say "See? Parents do horrific things too!"

I saw the daycare nap mat story. And the mom who branded her kids with hot sticks. And the mom who tore her boy's scrotum and tried to super glue it back together. And the baby left in the car while mom got a wax job. And so on. It's disgusting. Me thinks the baby in the car would've been better off at a daycare, but that costs money, money needed to get wax jobs.
Honestly, mom's new boyfriend is probably FAR more dangerous than 99 percent of daycare providers.
