    When Will I Learn?

Sometimes it takes me time after time to teach myself a lesson.

I agreed to take a temp kid - just for one week. I always think to myself "Oh, a little extra money," but then I remember that it is not worth the money to take an unknown temporary kid!

So I have this 3yo girl this week. She hasn't spoken one word, doesn't nap, wants out when we are in, wants in when we are out, tries to go upstairs, and hasn't eaten squat! My assistant and I were both outside with the kids when I heard the doorbell ring. I opened the door and their was dcg! She can unlock stuff!

NEVER AGAIN! (until someone calls and I forget this valuable lesson once more!)

 So she was able to get around to the front of your house and ring the bell?

I agree, taking temp kids ****s. I did it myself but it did teach me a very valuable lesson and I was able to make major improvements because of it. I feel better about myself and the care I provide because of it.

But yeah, it worries me that she was able to sneak off like that. She could have very well gone elsewhere and not to your front door.

I know! She can unlock doors with NO problem! I have never had to have special locks on the doors, the normal locks have always sufficed. I can't wait for this week to be over!

Yikes! Maybe you need to put bells on her shoes so you can hear her!

Today when we were outside she stripped herself completely naked! She's 3 1/2.

I am about to sign on to take state vouchers with a family child care system. They said they would use me for the summer to fill in for other providers' vacations! I was like Needless to say I'm dragging my feet about finishing up the paperwork. Of course I can refuse, but like OP said the thought of extra money for a week is always nice. Apparently they are in need of substitute providers for the summer. I just think it's ridiculous to send a child somewhere completely strange to them for a week then back to their regular place. Sounds nuts! When they call I will likely refuse to be a substitute.

                  I don't mind drop ins.

I charge almost 3x-4x more than my regular rate for drop ins and I limit the times they can be here so it's always worth it to me.

I normally have kids from 7-5 but I only allow drop-ins to use time between 8-4.

                  Cash only, paid upfront.
