    I Feel So Bad

Baby (14 months tomorrow) was toddling around. Fell & bonked her head on the plastic shelf. Starts scream crying, I go pick her up and, surprise-Blood!

It was from her nose (phew) but I forget how much anything in the head area bleeds. Nose bleed stopped, nice bruised forehead where she hit (bruised immediately).

It's her nap time now and she's climbing on me going "nigh nigh" and doing the sign for please. I know the likelihood of concussion is small but gah now I'm paranoid.

    Awwwww

When I first opened, I had only been open a few months when I was checking my challenging dcb's diaper when he ran away from me and fell and hit his head on my tv stand. He turned around and there was so much blood. I used to have those foam like safety things on it, but he just happened to tare them off. He ended up having a huge gash in his forehead and had to go get stitches. I felt so bad, but it was out of my control. Sometimes things just happen.

I'm pretty sure the "don't sleep immediately after a concussion" thing is not accurate. At least, according to my pediatrician.

Agreed with Wednesday, I think they changed it to YES sleep after a head injury.

She's acting normal. Mom knows about it but hasn't seen it yet. Dcg wouldn't stay still long enough for a picture. Lol.

awww it's so sad when they get hurt. But yes, the recommendation is now to let them sleep after a head bonk especially if it is their regular sleep time. The biggest signs to watch for are vomiting and dilated pupils, or pupils that aren't tracking. Or an indent in the head---swelling OUT is okay but a dent IN is probably not. Also slurring of speech. There are a lot of things :P
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

I always feel so bad when they get hurt too.

Once the son of a friend was looking out the screen door and an older child opened the door. The toddler fell out head first and landed on the welcome mat - one of those rubber ones with all the raised dots. He ended up with a bunch of red dots on his head! I felt awful, but he was #4 and his mom thought it was hilarious. ::

Well it looks even worse today, as they always do. Ping pong sized lump all black & blue.

The bloody nose made it into her baby book at home, 1st bloody nose.

She's toddling around like it's nothing. Glad she's ok but I still feel awful about it.

Her mom told me about their camping trip 2 weeks ago (she was gone for a week so I hadn't heard the story) when little stinker toppled off the cabin deck and basically sumersaulted backwards down the 2 small steps onto the concrete landing.

Amy-I'm picturing all the little red dots, :-) I hope you got a picture!
