So, yesterday, I got up the nerve and called the 2 kids' previous provider. Am I ever glad I did! She was so nice, and confirmed what I suspected...they were lousy clients the whole 6.5 months she watched them-sob stories and asking for special constantly. She also told me that DCM wants to bring them back to her in the fall, because I won't watch the SA after the summer.
With that information, I contacted a waitlist and lined up new kids, and decided to term ASAP. She comes in for pick-up and tells me she is giving ME notice, and wants July 3rd to be the last day. Great! I didn't have to do it, but I did let her know that if I needed this to be the last week to start new kids, considering the circumstances, I'd let her know immediately.
Well, got with the new family, set everything up for them to start on the 30th, so I need them out after this week. I sent DCM a polite notice via e-mail today...then packed up all their stuff in case she blew her top. She did not disappoint!:
: She picked-up, very hostile, and informed that TODAY is their last day. She looked sooooo shocked when I handed her the giant bag and said so sweetly, "I expected that from you. Sorry, kiddos! You will be missed. Bye-bye."
And now I can completely put all of it out of my mind, and enjoy the rest of the summer. I just feel bad for the next provider.
