I have a 5 month old that has been with me for a little over a month for two days a week. Last week he began full time. Mom stated she is comfortable with him being here and changed her status to full time. Anyways a little background on dcb: he is breastfed at home and she offers two bottles of formula a day. He is bottle fed formula only here (moms choice to not pump). He co-sleeps with mom. She carries him around the house in his infant seat during the day whenever he gets fussy or she holds him constantly when her hands are free. He is nursed to sleep and only sleeps max 20 minutes if mom isn't laying with him.
Fast forward to now. I had issues with him eating sleeping and playing. Mom has worked on the bottle issue and that has resolved. He still doesn't do anything other than cry if hes not being held or I'm not in his face. Mom stated yesterday that she is aware she has created a problem for him me and my other dck"s and shes sorry and wants to fix it. She specifically asked about appropriate practices for self soothing, sleep training and CIO. I never really had to do CIO with my kids as they slept alone from day one. I nursed them and placed them back in their crib. Please help me to help her. Here I lay him down and tell him hes fine. He screams and I've been going back and trying to help calm him. When I leave his pnp hes even more upset. If I just let him cry and stay where he can hear me and not see me he still cries but its not hysterical like when he sees me. He eventually falls asleep but only 20-30 minutes and he still whines during his sleep. Mom stated he does this at home as well. She wants him to stay here and knows Im not willing to keep him if we can not fix this as its unfair to all involved especially the baby. Thanks ladies for all of your help once again.
