    Frustrated with Gliders!

How long do your gliders typically last? What brand do you buy? We've gone through 2-3 gliders in our infant room and only have been open for 3 years. Is this normal? We do NOT allow the kids to play on them, so I dont understand why they are falling apart or again is this typical wear and tare?

well I have two right now. One purchased second hand, one purchased new. I've never had a glider break and they get used daily. I'm NOT a tiny person, either, . I'm very heavy. I've had the one glider for going on 7 years and it is in perfect condition. It was bought at Babies R Us and was pretty much the cheapest one there. I love it. It's fantastic.
Hee hee! Look, I have a signature!

My glider is a hand me down. Grandma used it for 2 years, mom used it for 5, now I've had it for 2. It's a little squeeky (WD40 to the rescue!) and the foot stool was broken intentionally by one of my dck's. Other then that it still works just fine.

      I'm not a small girl. 250 lbs.

I am 240lbs and our we have 3 gliders. One is almost 15 years old the other 2 are over 5 years old. They don't have any problems at all.

Not trying to start something, but are your staff "falling" into the chairs? I'm not really sure how to explain it, but some people go to sit down and just kinda "foomp" into it instead of sitting down gently.

How are the chairs breaking-like what part? The seat, glider, back? I suppose in a center they're being used more often but 2-3 in 3 years sounds excessive to me.

No offense taken.. Its actually the arms that break off and we had them fixed, but only to fall apart again. Or, the a actual glider pieces underneath the seat.
I've stuck with the same brand of glider too the "Storkcraft Hoop Glider and Ottoman". We purchased the 2 from Factory Select/Foundations and the other from Toys-R-Us.

Neither of my girls are very big.. I would say your average woman. I've never seen them plop into the chair, but I am not always watching either. That may be something to look into.

I spoke with one of my girls who used to work at another daycare and she said the same as you ladies-they had good chairs for about 5-6 years bought new ones, but like mine fell apart within a year?!

Lucky you! I bought one from Babies R Us and it's been broken most of its life. The glider part underneath is what keeps breaking, and I'm under 150 so I don't think it's me!

                  Contacted company....

And they are the BIGGEST pain in trying to replace parts. Be forewarned ladies the warranty for anything by stork craft is UNDER one year! Ours litterally fell apart a year from the day we bought it and they are giving me a hassle about replacing it.
Ive also followed all of their instructions concerning taking pictures, labeling etc and they keep telling me I am missing information. I also contacted their office and have been hung up on 4 times while on hold.

I have 2 used ones that were used for years by their previous owners and now have been used daily for 11 months...zero issues. Maybe you should buy one off Craigslist.
