    the non stop runny nose

I have a 2.5 yr old that has had a runny noisy literally every day this year, with the exception of one week. I'm wiping it every 5 minutes, and I have to drop everything and run when he sneezes because both nostrils leak down to his chin. I mentioned a possible allergy to mom, and she agreed that might be the cause and will take him to see a doctor basically whenever she gets around to it. In the meantime, if I don't get to him in time, he's wiping it all over his hands and arms. It's disgusting ... And it's getting over all of my things.

Short of running him to the bathroom to wash him down every time it happens, is there something that I can use to wipe down him down that will clean and sanitize his hands and arms??

I would just use baby wipes! I don't think they sanitize though. When mom asks why you're going through so many wipes, tell her he basically gets a "baby wipe bath" several times a day.

When a child has a symptom that makes it so that I can not keep up or becomes MORE work than not, I require a doctor's visit after the 5th day or NO services.

I am a GROUP provider NOT a nanny and when ONE child's symptoms require that much work...it is impossible and unfair of mom to simply expect you to deal with it.

She can go to the doctor whenever she gets around to it but I certainly wouldn't except him into care after the 5th straight day of it.

This is written in my illness policy so ALL parents are aware of this rule.

I may have to add that rule to my own handbook if you don't mind.

Last winter, I added to my sick policy that if a child's nose was running so much that I couldn't keep up with it, they would have to go home for sanitary reasons. I added it after one child kept wiping it on my couch.
