And they filed a complaint on me. My coordinator called and tolde to explain. I won't bore you all with the long story but the main complaints were unaccomadating and price gouging (sp?). Of course I literally have a50 pg paper trail with this client and a few others in regards to how accommodating I am amd their agreement to the "price gouging". But I haven't sent them their official termination notice which includes $50 in fees. This literally all happened in a three hour period. I hate hate we have two choices: let people walk all over us or stand up but get in trouble for our " lack of customer service" (her quote)
I Terminated Someone.....

And I'm not sure why you'd be "in trouble" for customer service:confused:
As a business owner I get to run things as I see fit. If I decide to be closed every Monday and just work a 4 day week, I can do that. If someone were to call and complain about that, well, I think licensing would get a good laugh:

It goes hand in hand sometimes.
I texted a DCM to ask where she was, she was late 45 minutes late. She replied she was the dentist. No I didn't approve it. Later that week I termed her for picking up an hour late after I asked her to be on time. She racked up a bunch of late fees that week.
I got a visit from licensing. She wasn't at the dentist, she was there filing a complaint cause I was in the bathroom onetime at drop off. She felt I should have waited until nap time.
I now always tell licensing when I am having problem with a parent. especially the high maintenance ones.- Flag

Until States start penalizing parents for unfounded complaints this will never end. I think Utah has this.- Flag

Oh heck. Here, we would probably be written up for using the bathroom, unless we did it 'properly' :: We were told in a newly required supervision class that we should have our eyes on every single child at every single second (under K). For bathroom breaks, we are to bring all children with us, have them sit outside the door with 'enriching activities' or something like that. That includes if we are helping a toddler with potty learning or using the bathroom ourselves. We were told that even if we sneeze, if something happened to happen to a child at that second, we could be written up for neglect.
I doubt that this will be enforced like this, but that's what we were told

.....Yes! Yes! And Yes!
I have been saying this for years!
We are so vulnerable to some parents revenge, it's not fair!
I believe a hefty fine to the untruthful parents would be nice, then completely cleared from our record. None of this "non findings" bull!- Flag

The last parent I termed called licensing on me with a money issue (not something they deal with). Since there were no regs broken, I did not get a complaint on file, but my worker did come out and lecture me on "customer service"- Flag

How is it price gouging if the client agrees to the fees? They can go somewhere else if they don't want to pay increases. It's not like you're the only daycare in town.- Flag

If the dept. find that a complaint was malicious...they file charges.
"By statute, the Department is not allowed to investigate an anonymous complaint. The statute also does not allow us to investigate complaints that allege incidents which occurred more than 6 weeks prior to the report of the incidents.
By submitting a complaint, you acknowledge that the information you submit is accurate. If a person knowingly gives false information to Child Care Licensing for the purposes of changing the status of a child care license or certificate, the person giving the false information may be guilty of a Class B Misdemeanor."
Complaints will still happen of course, but it's nice to know licensing has our backs at least a little bit.- Flag
