I am so stressed right now working with a really small time frame. RIght now I am conducting interviews for 2014-2015 school year. People are coming to an empty house.....

I definitely agree with the others. If they don't love you enough to move with you 1.5 miles then good riddance! Seriously! Then to ask for a pay differential? No thank you! I'm sure if they were to leave you they would have to drive that extra distance anyway!

Daycare, I know you have an excellent program for your kiddos, so don't let anyone make it seem like you are anything less, either at your current location or 1.5 miles down the road.

I saw you mentioned something about the drive being farther but I don't understand why she thought that would warrant a discount? :confused:

I'd have a hard time not laughing outloud at her if that is the case...since when are rates based on the distance a family drives to get there... :: ::

Tell her the discount is that you are giving her "credit" for coming up with the most ridiculous reason to think she deserves a discount.

The "credit" being that you are sooooo gonna tell everyone you know about this one. That way, we all can say we HAVE heard it all now. ::

As some of you know, I am moving house/daycare 1.5 mile up the road.

Well all of the parents have been wonderful about it but 1.

They at first said it was out of their way, then it was not, then it was something else and now they are ok with the move, but they want discount.

I said no to the discount.

The DCP said that since I am having to change their morning drive, I should be required to give them a discount.

I responded with that it is their choice if they want to join us at the new location or not. If they don't they need to let me know with a 3 week notice.

BTW. I googled the DCP house and it is actually still on their route to their job and only less than 1/8 of a mile difference between my current house and the other one.


DCP said this morning that I am being a bit unfair.

Honestly it would tick me off and I would ask them to make their choice or you will make it for them.

I just want to add that the only thing unfair about this situation is that they even put you in that position to not only have to say no to a discount, but have to say it more than once. wth is wrong with people?

I can agree with the "never hurts to ask" but only one time. To keep asking and to say that it is "unfair" sounds like a 2 year old temper tantrum.

I moved a while back approx. 5 miles from my old home. Not only was it out of everyone's way, but I RAISED my rates at this time also. One parents fee was raised a very considerable amount bc they were using hours outside of the original agreement.

Everyone stayed.

If they are acting so childish, maybe you would be better off to cut ties now anyhow

MOST RIDICULOUS THING I EVER READ! Are you serious!? You are messing with us right? LOL

There ain't NO way I'd give a discount for me moving ONE and 1/2 miles, like 3 minutes away. They are this lazy!!???I would probably mention to them that it's 1/8 of a mile difference for their route and make them feel silly! I mean seriously, I drive 15 mins out of the way for our backup, and I'd drive wherever for the right provider. I don't use a FT provider, so it's really not that bad for me. Our normal provider is right by my house
