    posture and weight.... I did have back problems but then I had them worse when I worked as a dental assistant. I had both knees replaced and my posture is MUCH better now and I have no back pain at all now and I have been doing this for 30 years
    It:: will wait

      My back hurts most of the time, but like itlw8 said, I know mine is from bad posture and the amount of weight that I have gained over the years. I know that when I was younger and skinnier, I used to load up the little kids in my van 3 times per day to get the school kids back and forth to school. That all but killed my back from picking up the kids, twisting to get them in the car seats, bending over the seats to get them in and buckled and unbuckled and out of the van. That really killed my back!

        I'm 51, overweight, done DC 20 years, and no back problems. Just depends on your body and different circumstances I think. Sorry you're having problems!!

          40something, been overweight for the last few years and no back problems here after 13 years of doing daycare. I do have knee issues, but its a torn meniscus from a few years back, not daycare related.

          I don't lift kids too much, just up to the changing table. And I hate the chiro - feel like once you go once you have to keep going back!!

              After 20 years doing this, I've had some temporary back issues. So I would be more careful for awhile and it went away after a few days. I've pulled my back before while lifting so near the end (this is my first week of retirement), I made some changes so I would lift as little as possible. I did have one long term ache that seemed to be in my upper butt. My doctor said it was actually from my back. It went away when I stopped lifting so much.

              I would never wear a baby in a sling either.

              Don't mess with your back. My son has a chronic back problem and it is not fun.
