To Train or not to Train?

Got another one completely potty trained! YAY! happyface He is 2.5 and took a little longer then most but he learned how to potty on the regular toilet instead of the potty chair so it was less mess to clean in the long run. Now we are down to two in diapers. One is a baby so no rush there but the other dcg is 2 and is showing all the signs of readiness. She keeps a dry diaper for hours on end, including naptime, but parents just don't seem eager to get her potty trained. Makes no sense to me because I was always eager to be done with the expense of diapers. Would you talk to the parents about getting on the potty training or just let it go?

I hear you, I am always eager to potty train on the earlier side, assuming child is showing signs of readiness. Who wants to pay for diapers when a child can go potty?! Anyway, I would explain to dcm that you are seeing signs of potty training readiness, and say that if she is ready to begin, you will support it at daycare as well. But, the parents have to be on board, or they will push back any progress you make. See what they think. I have had many children that successfully potty here, but parents put them in diapers at home. It's just easier when everyone is on the same page.

It definitely takes the parents involvement in potty training. My almost 3yo dcb.... Off and on since he started but mom never followed on her end. Finally a few weeks ago she stuck to it and now we are just working on getting him to poop in the toilet. He gives absolutely no signs he is pooping either so it makes it so much harder. My own almost 2 yo potty trained himself. We are still working on night time but he is really young still so I don't really care as much. One diaper a night is better than 4+ a dayhappyface

So bring it up with mom, she if she is interested and let her know dcg is showing signs of being ready

We just brought up the idea to dcd at pickup and he seemed all excited to get her done. He is going to talk to dcm but he is sure she will be on board so hopefully we can all work together and get this done! happyface

How do you work on training at night time? My son has been potty trained during the day since before he turned 2, but we are still using a diaper at night & he will be 3 next week. I honestly thought they just got the hang of night time on their own when they were ready, but I feel silly now that I'm writing that. Lol
