I have wanted to change to contracted hours. I suppose I kind of already am. My contract states I'm willing to be available from 4:30am-5pm, however I base my days on each families contracted schedule. And then below it I have them fill in which days of attendance and the drop-off and pick-up times for each day.
I have a couple families that have a set weekly schedule and they just get it. Always on time and a couple families that are always earlier then their scheduled drop off. Then I have a couple families who have a rotating schedule and their drop off and pick up time vary each day. I have them text me each week their schedule. For example: Mon- 10-5:15; tues 11-5:15; wed 12-5:15 and so on. These families just don't get it. They show up early all the time. Today they were 15 minutes early. And I of course have a ton of kids looking out the window and yelling they are here so it's not like I can make them wait.
They knocked and I made them a wait a couple of min, but then rang the bell. I opened and said "Oh, you said 11." DCM say "I know" and that was it, I see where she would think its not a big deal because I have other kids, but it really peeves me off because I always have their kids later than any other family because a couple years ago I said I would keep them a little later as needed. Well lately it is every day even when DCM has the day off. and to top it off the DCD is even later than 5:153 out of the 5days a week. I don't charge late fees because I've had the DCKs forever and I can't just start now.
My questions are
1:I want to change my rates to reflect the pick up time like BC, I won't raise my rates for current clients, but I will give them the lower rate if they contract and earlier pick up time. but If I charge them a weekly rate according to their latest scheduled pick up time even if it's only one day for the later time then why would they even change the pick up time to earlier any other days of the week.
2:How to let them know they need to stick to the drop off schedule, need to be on time for pick up etc. Without losing them.
Sorry if I don't make sense. I kind of lost my train of thought while I was writing this.
Thanks for your input.
