I just saw a report that Mississippi has a confirmed case of Chikungunya disease. It's highly contagious and gotten from Mosquitos. Supposedly here are only SEVEN cases in the entire United States.?? And the case is in the same county I live in.....
The lady (who actually lives in Alabama) visited Haiti and contracted it there. She was here locally working with a dr when she started having joint pain and then a rash... She went to a local hospital where she was diagnosed.
We already have several west Nile cases here also.
I guess the good news is that it can't be spread from person to person.
My concern is I wonder if a mosquito here in ms were to have bitten that woman and then went to someone else.... Creating thousands of infected Mosquitos...
The cdc website doesn't say if that's possible.
